'Youth' now defined as those aged from 15 to 30

PETALING JAYA: The age limit for youth will be set at between 15 to 30, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said this was to ensure their participation and contributions towards the country’s progress are more organised and effective.

"A country that builds the youth of today is a country that determines the future of tomorrow," he said when tabling the Supply Bill 2026 in the Dewan Rakyat on Friday (Oct 10).

"The youth cannot be a spectator on the sidelines but must be given opportunities and trust to lead, create and contribute,” he added.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said RM250mil will be allocated for the National Service programme next year.

Among measures taken to improve graduate employability, he said Khazanah will provide RM200mil for the KYouth Programme.

This programme provides on the job training to 11,000 youths without educational qualifications, he said.

He added that the Rakan Muda programme will also receive RM40mil.

“The government will also continue absorbing the cost of B2 motorcycle license for underprivileged youth, ensuring that they are able to be involved in delivery services,” he said.
