Budget 2026: RM220mil for Parliament includes funds to empower Parliament Special Select Committees


PETALING JAYA: Parliament will receive an allocation of RM220mil under Budget 2026.

Out of this allocation, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said RM5mil will be channelled towards empowering Parliamentary Special Select Committees.

On another note, Anwar also announced that the Consumer Protection Act will be amended to include the Lemon Law element to protect consumer rights.

Engagements are also ongoing for the separation of the roles of Attorney General and Prosecutor, he said.

He added that reforms to criminal law and contract law were currently under review, including the drafting of a new Admiralty Jurisdiction Bill and Coroner Bill.
