Budget 2026: Boost for Sarawak-Sabah road links, including RM1.67bil to continue Pan Borneo Highway

KUCHING: RM1.67bil has been allocated for the continuation of the Pan Borneo Highway project, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In announcing allocations for highway projects in Sabah and Sarawak, the Prime Minister and Finance Minister also said Phase 1 of the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR 1) project was expected to be completed by November next year.

SSLR 2 is under construction and scheduled to be finished by mid-2029, he added when tabling Budget 2026 in the Dewan Rakyat on Friday (Oct 10).

In addition, tender documents for the Trans-Borneo Highway, which will complete Sarawak-Sabah connectivity, will be issued in the first quarter of next year.

"In total, these infrastructure projects amount to RM48bil," Anwar said.
