Teen motorcyclist killed in crash near Skudai

JOHOR BARU: A motorcyclist died on the spot while his pillion rider was injured in an accident involving three vehicles at KM5 Jalan Skudai, Lido Beach, towards Skudai.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the incident occurred at 7.10pm on Sunday (Oct 5) when a motorcycle hit a stationary car.

"The car, driven by a 38-year-old local man, had stopped in the middle of the road because of traffic," ACP Raub said in a statement on Monday (Oct 6).

"The motorcycle approaching from behind crashed into the rear of the car after the rider could not stop in time."

He said the impact caused the car to lurch forward and hit the back of another vehicle, driven by a 28-year-old factory operator.

ACP Raub said the 18-year-old local victim, a student, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Hospital Sultanah Aminah.

He said the 16-year-old pillion rider, also a student, is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Both car drivers were unhurt and lodged police reports later, he added.

ACP Raub urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the Johor Baru South Traffic Department or call investigating officer Insp Nurulhadi Ali at 019-5230102.
