SAPP president Datuk Yong Teck Lee celebrating his birthday with party veterans, leaders, members and staff at the party’s headquarters in Kota Kinabalu on Friday (Oct 3).
KOTA KINABALU: Peace of mind is the softest cushion one can rest on, says Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Datuk Yong Teck Lee, who appeared light-hearted and relaxed as he celebrated his birthday on Friday (Oct 3).
“Last night I slept very well,” Yong said, drawing laughter from party members gathered at the SAPP headquarters here.
Quoting a saying he read in an English newspaper earlier that day — “a clear conscience is the best pillow” — Yong said the phrase resonated deeply with him.
The birthday gathering, attended by party veterans, senior leaders, members and staff, took place in a warm and informal atmosphere.
Just a day earlier, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) had announced its decision to part ways with Sabah Star and SAPP.
Yong’s tone suggested that the split had brought him a sense of ease, adding that SAPP would reveal its next course of action after the party’s supreme council meeting on Saturday (Oct 4).
