KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan was quizzed for five-and-a-half hours by graft investigators.

His political secretary Anuar Ghani said his statement was recorded from 5.30pm to 11pm by investigators at the Sabah MACC office here Thursday (Sept 25).

Anuar said Kitingan has cooperated fully with the investigators and has completed giving his statement in regard to a video alleging bribery linked to Sabah mining prospecting licences.

"We advise allowing the investigation to proceed without interference and to wait for its outcome.

"The public is urged not to speculate and to respect the rule of law," he said.

The Sabah STAR president, Anuar said, has called on the public to keep their sights on more important issues facing Sabah — such as asserting Sabah rights on the 40%, territorial rights over oil and gas, flood mitigation, climate change, food security, and pressing social concerns among others.

"These matters require our collective focus,” he added.

He said ultimately, the decision on who governs Sabah rests with its people.

“Sabahans alone must determine their future leadership. The choice is theirs to make. Let the ballot box decide,” said Anuar, who is also Sabah STAR information chief..
