Two cops jailed, fined for bribe-taking

KUALA LUMPUR: Two policemen were sentenced to six months’ jail and fined RM2,000 each by the Sessions Court here for accepting a bribe of RM800 as an inducement to not take any action involving a khalwat (close proximity) case.

Judge Rosli Ahmad handed down the sentence on Nur Fikri Mohd Fadzilee, 28, and Mohd Fazly Hambali, 39, after finding them guilty of the offence.

He ordered them to serve the jail sentence from yesterday and to be jailed for another two months if they failed to pay the fine, Bernama reported.

The two policemen were jointly charged with obtaining RM800 in cash from a police officer.

The money was an inducement to not arrest or take action against the officer and his partner, who were caught on suspicion of committing khalwat in a car.

The offence was committed between midnight and 2.20am at a bus stop in Precinct 8, Putrajaya, on Oct 1, 2020.
