KOTA KINABALU: Flood victims in Sabah continue to record an increase to 2,813 people involving 752 families as of 4pm Tuesday (Sept 16).
The Sabah State Disaster Management Committee secretariat, in a statement, announced that the number increased by 339 people compared to 2,474 people recorded as at noon.
Of the total, three districts - Membakut, Papar and Putatan - continue to record an increase in the number of victims while the numbers remaining did rise sharply in Beaufort and Penampang.
To date, 22 Temporary Evacuation Centres have been activated to accommodate 752 affected families.
Penampang continues to record the highest number of victims with 940 people involving 232 families who were placed in eight centres.
For the Membakut district, a total of 815 victims were reported, involving 232 families and placed in five centres.
Meanwhile, in Putatan, a total of 538 victims involving 135 families were placed in four relief centres that were activated since yesterday.
In addition, the Papar district also recorded an increase in the number of victims, totalling 247 people, involving 70 families, who are now housed in four relief centres.
In Beaufort, 273 victims, involving 83 families, are currently still sheltering at the Selagon Permanent Evacuation Centre.
