PAS Supporters’ Congress aims to contest in winnable seats

ALOR SETAR: The PAS Supporters’ Congress (DHPP) has expressed its intention to contest in winnable seats in the upcoming general election.

Its vice chief Datuk K. Deepakaran said this would help the party's efforts to broaden its electoral support.

"As non-Muslims within PAS, we in DHPP are confident that our role is not merely symbolic, but as a pillar of unity.

"Our presence is living proof that PAS has the capacity to embrace all Malaysians, regardless of race or religion," he said when debating the party president's keynote address here on Monday (Sept 15).

The Selangor DHPP chief said if winnable seats would be allocated to DHPP candidates in GE16, it would serve as evidence that PAS is genuinely serious about elevating the voice of non-Muslim communities into the mainstream.

He said such a step would strengthen voters' confidence that PAS is not only a party for Muslims, but a party for all Malaysians.

The congress, he added, fully supports the motion by PAS Youth to have a prime minister from PAS.

For the non-Muslims, this is not a concern, he said. In fact, the congress is confident that a prime minister from PAS can lead the country with greater fairness, transparency, and integrity.
