PKR to review performance of state polls at annual congress, says Fahmi

PUTRAJAYA: PKR will conduct a post-mortem of the Johor and Negri Sembilan polls during the PKR's annual congress this month, says Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.

Fahmi, who is also the coalition communications director, said that delegates from both states were expected to raise issues observed during the elections, share takeaways and propose improvements that should be taken by the party.

“Besides fulfilling the requirements of the Registrar of Societies (RoS) in accordance with the party constitution, the congress would also discuss internal improvements based on findings from the state polls,” said Fahmi during the weekly post-Cabinet press conference on Aug 5.

“I believe certain issues will be raised by Johor and Negri Sembilan delegates on what they may have observed. It's not just to reflect and learn lessons from what happened in the state elections.

"But also what internal measures should be taken by the party, be it in terms of machinery, responsibilities, candidate preparations and so on," he added.

The Communications Minister also said the congress may also discuss whether any action is needed regarding government policies based on feedback raised by delegates.

In Johor, Pakatan won eight out of 56 state seats, while in Negri Sembilan, the coalition comprising PKR, DAP and Amanah secured only 11 out of 36 seats.
