Abdul Hadi urges PAS to defend all seats won in GE15

ALOR SETAR: PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has called on the party to defend the state and parliamentary constituencies that PAS and its Perikatan Nasional coalition won in the last general election.

Describing these as "base states" (negeri pangkalan), Abdul Hadi said it is essential to defend these bases, where an Islamic agenda can be implemented according to each state's jurisdiction.

"The next wave of victories is expected to come from Pahang, Perak and Selangor, further strengthening PAS and Perikatan's parliamentary seats, while boosting performance in the southern states and in Sabah, where we will face state elections soon," he said.

Abdul Hadi said this in his policy speech at the central 71st PAS Muktamar on Monday (September 15).

The Marang MP said that in GE15, PAS achieved its greatest success since its founding, securing control of four state governments and winning the highest number of parliamentary seats compared to other parties.

He said it is every member's duty to continue the struggle, translating victory into efforts to overcome even greater challenges.

He added that Perikatan has also established State Government 4 (SG4) to manage the four states under the party's leadership, while paying tribute to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who openly stated that Islam offers solutions and has experience in handling global economic crises that also affected Malaysia.

In GE15, PAS recorded its strongest showing in history, capturing the largest number of parliamentary seats among all parties and securing control of four state governments: Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis.

Perikatan secured 74 seats in the 222-seat Malaysian Parliament, making it the second-largest coalition after Pakatan Harapan (PH), which won 82 seats.
