Hadi Awang calls Malaysia Madani a ‘mere slogan’

ALOR SETAR: Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has criticised the federal government's 'Malaysia Madani' concept, saying it has been reduced to a mere slogan and rhetoric to deceive the public.

In his policy speech at the central 71st PAS Muktamar, the PAS president said that the true madani (civility) concept is when Islam holds authority to govern the country.

"The problem, however, is that Malaysia Madani has been reduced to a mere slogan used to deceive the people with a shallow understanding devoid of true knowledge.

It serves only as empty rhetoric without genuine direction or guidance," he said.

The Marang MP said the Madani concept has been further narrowed to a small idea within Malaysia, compared to its vast and deep meaning in the global context.

The Madani concept introduced by the unity government on January 19, 2023 is an initiative to promote inclusivity and encompass the interests of all races, religions, and regions in the country.
