Bersatu will not tolerate poison pen tactics, says Hamzah

SHAH ALAM: Bersatu is not a party that will submit to poison pen letters and practices that could destroy it, says deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.

He said members must stop negative practices before the party is harmed.

The Opposition Leader made these remarks while officiating the annual general assemblies of Bersatu wings—Armada (youth), Srikandi (women), Srikandi Muda, and the Associate wing (non-Bumiputras)—at the IDCC Centre here on Saturday (Sept 6).

"Whatever challenges lie ahead, we will face them together. United we stand, divided we fall. Do not bring in negative cultures. Do not introduce harmful practices into this party; practices that can be destructive,” said Hamzah.

He added that there is no place in Bersatu for anonymous letters or backstabbing

“This is a big family. This is a party that upholds the voice of the people and will fight for the future in the name of religion, race, and country,” he added

“We must be aware that the upcoming general election is not just about unity or about Perikatan Nasional, but a great mission rests on our shoulders: to determine the survival and destiny of our people and the nation as a whole,” said Hamzah.

He then said that the 16th General Election will determine the fate of the nation.

“If the wrong leaders are chosen, everything that has been built with blood, sweat, and tears to uphold the dignity of our people will collapse, be destroyed, and crumble,” said Hamzah.

Let us not repeat the mistake of realising the consequences only after we’ve been hurt," he added.

There have allegedly been poison pen letters against Hamzah among party members prior to the AGM.

Bersatu is currently holding its eighth AGM over two days—today and tomorrow.
