Hadi, Tuan Ibrahim retain PAS top posts unopposed

PETALING JAYA: PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and his deputy Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man have retained their posts unopposed for the 2025/2027 term in conjunction with the party’s annual 71st Muktamar.

Its election committee chairman Wan Rohimi Wan Daud said the confirmation was made after all nomination offer responses were received and reviewed by the committee during its meeting on Sept 2.

“Also elected unopposed were the three vice-presidents, Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, (Bagan Serai MP) Datuk Idris Ahmad and Kelantan Deputy Mentri Besar Datuk Amar Abdullah, with one rejecting the nomination,” he said in a statement yesterday.

On Aug 30, Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor declined the nomination to contest the position of PAS vice-president at the party’s 71st annual Muktamar.

However, Sanusi confirmed that he will only be defending his position on the central working committee for the 2025-2027 term.

Datuk Ahmad Yahaya won the PAS Ulama chief post unopposed, while Alor Setar MP Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden also won unopposed as the PAS youth chief.

Meanwhile, PAS Muslimat chief Dr Nuridah Salleh also retained her post for another term after winning uncontested.

Wan Rohimi also announced that 38 candidates were eligible to contest for the central committee member posts, with eight candidates rejecting their nominations.

Among them are Pengkalan Chepa MP Datuk Dr Ahmad Marzuk Shaary, Pendang MP Datuk Awang Hashim, Jerantut MP Khairil Nizam Khirudin and former Bachok MP Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, who is the son of the late Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat and Abdul Hadi’s son Dr Muhammad Khalil.

All positions in the PAS Central Ulama Council for the 2025/2027 term were won uncontested, with no election required, added Wan Rohimi.

The 71st PAS Muktamar will be held in Kota Sarang Semut from Sept 11 to Sept 16.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan had previously announced that the annual assembly will be held from Sept 15 and Sept 16, involving 4,200 delegates from across the country.

The PAS youth wing assembly will be held on Sept 11 and Sept 12, followed by the Muslimat wing assembly on Sept 13.

The annual Ulama wing assembly will be held at Darul Hadis Tok Keling on Sept 13.
