Dog that attacked boy in Cheras is a stray, say police


 KAJANG: The dog that mauled a child who was playing near his home is a stray, say police.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said checks with the municipal council found that it had no owner.

He added that the dog will be handed over to the Veterinary Services Department for further action.

"The child is still being treated at Hospital Putrajaya," he said when contacted on Friday (Sept 5).

The six-year-old boy was attacked near his house in Batu 9, Cheras on Wednesday (Sept 3).

Passers-by intervened and scared the dog away.

The child sustained head injuries and was sent to the hospital for treatment.

A municipal council team arrived at the scene following complaints from the public and captured the dog.
