Six-year-old injured in dog attack near home

KAJANG: A six-year-old boy has been injured after being mauled by a dog while playing near his home in Batu 9, Cheras.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said the incident was reported to police on Wednesday (Sept 3).

According to the complainant, the child had been riding his bicycle at around 6.30pm when the dog suddenly appeared and attacked him.

“Members of the public quickly intervened and managed to scare the dog away,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Sept 4).

The boy sustained head injuries and was rushed to Kajang Hospital for treatment. He has since been admitted to the children’s ward and is reported to be in stable condition.

Following public complaints, the municipal council’s enforcement team arrived at the scene and successfully captured the dog.

Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the animal had been registered as a pet, said Comm Naazron.
