RESIDENTS of Felda Kerteh 1 in Terengganu came together in the gotong-royong spirit to build a replica of the original Felda settlers’ home, paying tribute to the sacrifices and resilience of the first generation.
According to Sinar Harian, the nostalgic replica, measuring 3.5m wide and 1.8m long, cost nearly RM15,000 to construct with contributions from the community.
The design reflects the simplicity of early Felda homes, featuring a single bedroom, a modest living area and a kitchen, with a bathroom located outside.
“Our original homes were very simple, but they witnessed the struggles and milestones that shaped this settlement,” said veteran settler Ghazali Abdul Kadir, 65.
Ghazali added that the replica would also serve as a reminder for the younger generation.
“With this little house, the youth can see for themselves what life was like for the settlers in the past,” he said.
> Legendary comedian Mat Sentol, now 92, admitted that he still misses acting despite being away from the screen for years.
He revealed that if his health allowed, he would never let the chance to act again slip by.
“I still have the passion for acting, but due to age and health factors, I need to rest,” he said, Berita Harian reported.
Mat Sentol said the passion for performing never fades from an artiste’s heart and remains with them until the very end of life.
