MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for six states


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to hit six states until 3pm, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a statement on Saturday (May 23), MetMalaysia announced that the East Coast states involved were Terengganu (Kuala Terengganu and Marang) and Pahang (Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin).

On the West Coast of the Peninsula, the same situation is expected to affect the entire state of Melaka and Negri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin).

In Johor, the areas involved are Tangkak, Segamat, Mersing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru.

Meanwhile, in Sabah, the same warning has been issued for the Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Keningau and Tambunan), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud) and Kudat (Kota Marudu and Kudat). – Bernama
