MCMC records Pahang MCA Youth chief's statement on Urban Renewal Bill

CYBERJAYA: Pahang MCA Youth chief Wong Siew Mun concluded her statement recording by the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) after about three hours in connection with a video on social media regarding the Urban Renewal Bill.

Wong stated she gave her full cooperation and answered all questions posed to her.

"I've given my full cooperation during the statement taking and thank you to MCMC officers for being professional and helpful during the process," she told reporters at the MCMC headquarters on Sunday (Aug 31).

Wong hoped her statement recording would serve as a reminder that freedom of speech must be fought for.

"It is a precious lesson for us, especially on our National Day, to reflect on the value of our country.

"I will wait for the result of the investigation by the MCMC," she added.

Meanwhile, Wanita MCA secretary-general Chan Quin Er, who represented Wong as her lawyer, said the statement recording was smooth and Wong's mobile phone was seized for analysis by the MCMC.

"We hope that this will be the final time she needs to come to MCMC for any statement taking.

"We have given our full cooperation," she said.

Wong stated the party stands firm with Wong.

"We are unwavering in our spirit to continue to speak truth to power and we will continue to do so despite obstacles in our way," she said.
