RM100 Madani book voucher scheme for tertiary students starts Aug 28

PUTRAJAYA: The Higher Education Ministry will begin implementing the RM100 Madani Book Voucher initiative from Thursday (Aug 28) until Dec 12.

It will benefit 500,000 students at public universities, polytechnics, community colleges and private higher learning institutions, the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 27).

It added that the initiative shows the Madani government’s commitment to meeting students’ learning needs and alleviating their financial burden.

"It also seeks to foster the reading habit among youth, especially university students, while boosting the book industry’s growth.

"The ministry hopes all eligible students will make full use of the vouchers to broaden their knowledge and enhance their capabilities, in line with the focus on nurturing the nation’s best talents,” it said.

According to the ministry, students can buy academic books, reference materials, and scholarly works from the MySiswaPlace portal, a one-stop centre featuring over one million titles, including print and e-books from more than 250 partners.

It said that students can access the portal to verify eligibility, generate and redeem vouchers, and buy books.

The ministry also expressed its appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the government’s approval to continue implementing the initiative for Malaysians pursuing higher education. – Bernama
