Thunderstorms, heavy rain nationwide till 9pm on Aug 10


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain and strong wind alert for eight states and two federal territories, expected to last till 9pm.

The entire area of Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Labuan is expected to be affected, along with Kerian, Larut, Matang, Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta and Perak Tengah in Perak; Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai); and Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Dungun and Kemaman).

In addition, Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Jerantut, Bentong, Kuantan and Rompin in Pahang will be affected, along with Selangor (Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat), Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu) and Johor (Kluang, Mersing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru).

Over in East Malaysia, the interior of Sabah (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Keningau and Tambunan), the West Coast, Sandakan (Beluran) and Kudat are expected to be affected, as well as Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Serian, Samarahan, Sibu, Mukah (Matu, Dalat and Mukah), Kapit (Song, Kapit and Bukit Mabong), Bintulu (Tatau) and Limbang. - Bernama
