Nine remanded in fatal Sibu brawl case

SIBU: Nine suspects have been remanded for seven days until next Sunday (Nov 15) to assist investigations into the death of a 19-year-old male believed to have been stabbed during a brawl here on Saturday.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the suspects, aged between 16 and 42, were brought to court at 7.15am on Sunday for the remand application.

He said a post-mortem examination completed Sunday revealed that the victim died of chest injuries.

"The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code," he said.

The Sibu police headquarter’s Criminal Investigation Department launched an operation to track down those believed to be involved after receiving a report at about 2am on Saturday.

All the suspects were rounded up at several locations around Sibu between 10am and 4pm on Saturday. - Bernama
