Man drowns at Taman Suria Waterfall in Taiping

IPOH: A 20-year-old man has drowned at the Taman Suria Waterfall in Taiping, Perak.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said they received a call about the incident at 2.10pm on Sunday (Nov 8).

He added that the victim was with four friends at the waterfall.

Sabarodzi said rescuers had to travel 3km to reach a checkpoint, followed by another 1km trek on a hillside trail to get to the waterfall.

He said the victim was already out of the water when they arrived and the operations commander assessed the situation before instructing rescuers to stabilise the victim and perform CPR.

"The victim was pronounced dead by Health Ministry personnel," he said, adding that firefighters brought the victim down from the waterfall before handing him over to the police for further action.
