Cops raid illegal Dang Wangi nightclub, investigate 196 clubgoers

KUALA LUMPUR: Police inspected 196 patrons, including more than 100 young adults, during a raid on an entertainment outlet operating illegally in Dang Wangi early Sunday (Nov 8).

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Azwan Amin Nordin said the raid was conducted at about 12.30am.

He said the patrons, aged between 18 and 64, were taken to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters for documentation, the issuance of summonses and further action.

"Checks found that none of them had outstanding arrest warrants.

"Of the 49 individuals who underwent preliminary urine screening, one tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, while the others tested negative," he said.

ACP Ahmad Azwan said police were also investigating the premises manager under Section 29(2) of the Entertainment (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) Regulations 1993 for allegedly allowing underage patrons into the outlet.
