Khairy says voters should assess MCA candidates on their record

KELEBANG: Voters should assess MCA candidates based on their track record and ability to serve, says Khairy Jamaluddin.

The former Umno Youth chief said MCA's victories in the Johor and Negri Sembilan polls, where it won eight and two seats respectively, showed that the party remained capable of securing electoral support.

He said candidates should be judged on their service to the people and their ability to address issues affecting their constituencies.

Khairy also criticised Pakatan Harapan's performance in the Federal government, saying the Melaka election offered voters an opportunity to send a message about its track record.

Speaking at a ceramah in Klebang on Sunday (Nov 8), he cited several issues, including the abolition of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the introduction of the Sales and Service Tax (SST) and the implementation of e-invoicing.

He urged voters to support Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Lim Ban Hong, who is defending the seat.

Khairy also highlighted Lim's service record, citing assistance given to residents, including rice distribution, house repairs and improvements to local infrastructure.

The Klebang state seat will see a four-cornered fight involving incumbent Lim (MCA-Barisan), Farzana Hayani Mohd Nasir (PKR-Pakatan), Datuk Seri Mohamad Ali Mohamad (Bersatu) and Young Jie Yu (Bersama) in the Nov 14 Melaka Election.
