Two cops injured as patrol car overturns while trying to avoid monkeys in T'ganu

HULU TERENGGANU: Two police officers have been injured after the patrol car they were in skidded and overturned while trying to avoid a group of monkeys at KM4, Jalan Simpang Bukit Kepah-Tapah, near Kampung Kepah, here.

Hulu Terengganu OCPD Supt Sharudin Abdul Wahab said that in the 4.30pm incident on Sunday (Nov 8), Corporal Muhammad Amirul Hafiz Ahmad, 26 and Corporal Khairil Azlan Abdul Latif, 44, from the Hulu Terengganu police headquarters traffic investigation and enforcement division were on patrol.

He said the preliminary investigations found that the patrol car, driven by Muhammad Amirul Hafiz from Simpang Kepah towards Kuala Berang, swerved to the right of the road to avoid a pack of monkeys.

"However, the vehicle skidded and overturned several times. The incident occurred at a bend and on a wet road surface after rain," he said on Sunday.

He said Muhammad Amirul Hafiz fractured his left arm and Khairil Azlan, who had pain in his jaw, were sent to Hulu Terengganu Hospital. – Bernama
