Don’t hinder police probe into Zara Qairina's death, says Hajiji

KOTA KINABALU: The police must be given space to carry out a complete investigation into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The Sabah Chief Minister urged the public not to make any assumptions or listen to unverified sources over the death of the 13-year-old in Papar on July 16.

"The state government sympathises with the family over the incident. The public should not make any assumptions – let's wait for the process to proceed.

"Various assumptions have been made which are not correct. Trust the police to investigate and an announcement will be made when it is complete," he said after attending the Rumpun Bajau Samah Cultural Festival at Lok Batik in Tuaran here on Sunday (Aug 10).

Zara Qairina's body was exhumed on Saturday (Aug 9) for a post-mortem to be conducted.

The post-mortem examination by Queen Elizabeth Hospital I forensic head Dr Jessie Hui and forensic pathology consultant Dr Khairul Anuar Zainun from Sultan Idris Shah Hospital in Serdang was carried out starting at noon on Sunday.
