Headmaster says 'I love you' and molests 12-year-old student in Melaka

MELAKA: A male headmaster of a primary school here has been arrested on suspicion of molesting and uttering "I love you" to a 12-year-old male pupil in the school toilet and his office.

According to police sources, the alleged misconduct by the 55-year-old came to light when the victim, a Year Six pupil and the eldest of three siblings, related his ordeal to his mother.

The mother then accompanied her son to the Melaka Tengah police station to lodge a report on Friday (Aug 8).

Preliminary investigations revealed that the alleged incident took place at about 8am on July 29.

The boy was with two friends in the school toilet when the suspect reportedly entered. The suspect was said to have instructed the victim’s friends to return to class, leaving the pupil alone.

During this period, the suspect allegedly uttered "I love you" to the victim and demanded that the latter respond by saying "I love you too".

The police report stated that a victim encountered similar sexual abuse in June inside the suspect’s office.

On that occasion, the victim and a friend had been asked to assist with clipping certificates when the suspect allegedly inappropriately caressed the back of the victim.

The victim didn't immediately tell his mother about the earlier incident as he was afraid, but eventually spoke up after becoming increasingly distressed.

This prompted the family to take action by lodging a police report.

Police have since recorded statements from witnesses and examined both the toilet and the office where the alleged incidents took place.

The suspect was arrested to assist the investigation shortly after the report was lodged.
