KUALA LUMPUR: The police have arrested a wanted suspect involved in organised crime activities through a special operation, Ops Lima.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar said the suspect, who is a member of the organised crime group Geng TR, was arrested on Wednesday (June 3) with the cooperation of Indian and Thai authorities while on a flight from Chennai, India, to Bangkok, Thailand, before being brought back to Malaysia.

He said the 46-year-old man was arrested based on an arrest warrant issued by the Kuala Selangor Magistrate's Court on April 17, as well as having an Interpol Red Notice issued on May 7.

"Geng TR has been actively committing violent crimes and drug activities around Selangor since 2021. Arrests were made against the suspects for being members of an organised crime group.

"The case is being investigated under Section 130V of the Penal Code, which provides for a prison sentence of not less than five years and not more than 20 years," he said in a statement here on Wednesday.

Kumar said the suspect has a variety of serious offences in his criminal record, including murder cases, armed gang robberies and causing injury with a weapon.

It is said that the suspect will be charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code at the Shah Alam Sessions Court on Thursday (June 4) at 10 am.

Kumar said that the police also expressed appreciation to the Thai and Indian authorities for the synergy and close cooperation provided, in addition to reaffirming their continuous commitment to upholding the law for the safety of the country and the well-being of the people. – Bernama
