Casino chip thief believed to have fled country, says Pahang top cop

KUANTAN: A man suspected of being involved in a criminal breach of trust (CBT) case involving RM3mil worth of casino chips in Genting Highlands, Bentong, is believed to have fled the country.

Pahang police chief Comm Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman (pic) said that based on records, the man is out of the country, and the authorities here will cooperate with Interpol to track him down.

"Investigations are still ongoing and we will track down any accomplices who made the chip exchange," he told reporters after the handing over of duties ceremony for the Kuantan OCPD at district police headquarters here on Friday (Aug 8).

Comm Yahaya witnessed acting OCPD Supt Mohd Adli Mat Daud to Asst Comm Ashari Abu Samah, who was previously the Alor Gajah OCPD.

It was reported that police had received a report from a 32-year-old junket company manager that the chips had been stolen from a room.

Police said they were looking for a 44-year-old local man suspected of being involved to assist in the investigation under Section 408 of the Penal Code for CBT. – Bernama
