Five areas in Sarawak record unhealthy API as of 9am


PETALING JAYA: Five areas in Sarawak have Air Pollution Index (API) readings at unhealthy levels as of 9am on Wednesday (Aug 19).

Based on the Air Pollutant Index Management System (Apims), the areas were Serian (158), Kuching (156), Sri Aman (152), Mukah (125) and Samarahan (109).

Meanwhile, 58 areas in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak are at a moderate level, while five areas including Langkawi in Kedah and Kangar in Perlis recorded readings at a good level.

According to Apims, an API reading between 0 and 50 is categorised as good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and above 301 (hazardous).
