Dr M discharged from IJN

PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been discharged from the National Heart Institute (IJN) and allowed to return home as of 4.45pm on Sunday (July 13), following a brief period of rest after experiencing fatigue during a birthday event.

The former prime minister, who turned 100 this week, had attended a public picnic and potluck celebration held in his honour at the Perdana Leadership Foundation.

The event drew scores of well-wishers and saw Dr Mahathir arrive in high spirits, even cycling in on a tandem bicycle.

However, he began feeling unwell shortly after and left the event early with his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, before the scheduled cake-cutting ceremony.

His aide, Sufi Yusoff, confirmed that Dr Mahathir was later admitted to IJN at around 10am to rest.

“Yes, Tun was truly fatigued. So he left the event early and is now resting. His condition is okay, but he has been advised to rest and is currently at IJN,” Sufi said earlier.
