Wife of man killed in Kedah shootout nabbed, gun found in house


SUNGAI PETANI: The wife of a 34-year-old man who was shot dead during a shootout with police in Bandar Puteri Jaya here Saturday (July 6) night has been remanded for seven days to assist in the investigation.

Kuala Muda police chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan said the woman, in her 20s, was arrested at the couple’s rented home located nearby.

"A search was conducted at the premises, and we seized a pistol. The remand order is effective from today until July 12,” he told reporters at the Kuala Muda district police headquarters.

The man was killed around 7.50pm after reportedly opening fire on police during an operation in Bandar Puteri Jaya.

Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) acting director Datuk Fadil Marsus, earlier said that the suspect was believed to be involved in criminal activities and had possible links to two men shot dead in Jitra Saturday morning. - Bernama
