Falling tree claims life of 76-year-old in Pengkalan Hulu


IPOH: A 76-year-old man was killed after being struck by a falling tree while working in his plantation at Kampung Klian Intan in Pengkalan Hulu on Wednesday (July 2).

Perak Fire and Rescue Department's Operations Division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said a distress call was received at 5.16pm, and a team from the Pengkalan Hulu fire station was dispatched to the scene, located about 12km away.

"The victim was believed to have been cutting down a rubber tree when he was hit by the falling trunk.

"When the team arrived, they found the man lying motionless. Medical personnel later confirmed that he had died at the scene," he said.

The victim’s body was removed from the plantation and handed over to the police for further action.
