MELAKA: Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek heads a list of 1,328 recipients of honorary titles in conjunction with the 77th birthday of Melaka Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Dr Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam.
She was conferred the Darjah Gemilang Seri Melaka (DGSM), which carries the title Datuk Seri, at the investiture ceremony in Ayer Keroh yesterday.
Also receiving the DGSM were Chief Judge of Malaya Datuk Seri Hashim Hamzah, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman, Royal Malaysian Air Force chief Jen Tan Sri Muhamad Norazlan Aris, political secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Megat Zulkarnain Omardin and Datuk Seri Chuah Lim Leng.
A total of 56 people were conferred the Darjah Cemerlang Seri Melaka (DCSM), which carries the title Datuk Wira.
Among them were Benut assemblyman and Umno executive secretary Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar, Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar and Magna Meditech group managing director Divesh N. Sheth.
Fourteen recipients were conferred the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM), which carries the title Datuk.
They included Sabah deputy speaker Datuk Al Hambra Juhar, High Court judge Datuk Suria Kumar Durairaj Johnson Paul and Third Infantry Division commander Mejar-Jen Datuk Sani S. Omar.
Another 189 individuals received the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (DPSM), which also carries the title Datuk.
Among the recipients were Merlimau-born singer Ziana Zain, whose full name is Siti Roziana Zain, and Broadcasting Department director-general Ashwad Ismail.
Five others were appointed Justices of the Peace, while 106 recipients were awarded the Darjah Seri Melaka (DSM).
Other honours comprised the Bintang Cemerlang Melaka (BCM), awarded to 151 recipients; Bintang Khidmat Terpuji (BKT) to 244 people; Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) to 386; Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM) to 161; and Pingat Khidmat Lama (PKL) to five.
Melaka state secretary Datuk Salhah Salleh said the honours reflected the state’s appreciation for those who had rendered distinguished service and contributed across various fields.
She added that the recipients had also played important roles in advancing Melaka’s development and the well-being of its people.
The investiture, said Salhah, would be held over three sessions beginning yesterday, with the second and third sessions scheduled for tomorrow.
