AMPANG: Five individuals, including two suspects arrested earlier, have been questioned by the police in connection with the rape and attempted rape of a teenage girl.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said police are investigating the matter further.
“We discovered that the mother allowed her boyfriend to rape her daughter.
“It is sickening, but we have to investigate further.
“So far, we have recorded the statements of five individuals, including the two suspects, in the course of the investigation,” he said when contacted yesterday.
The 13-year-old victim is expected to be interviewed today, he added.
“The interview will take place at the Child Interview Centre (CIC),” he said.
ACP Mohd Azam had previously said the suspects, a 61-year-old man and his 36-year-old girlfriend, were detained in Pandan Indah last Friday.
“Initial investigations revealed that the victim was raped last year by the man while her mother witnessed the act.
“Recently, she overheard a conversation between the two suspects about meeting at a hotel so that the man could rape her again and it was consented by her mother.
“The victim then left her home and lodged a police report,” he said.
“The mother works as a security guard while the male suspect is a businessman.
“They have been remanded until July 4,” he added.
