Investigation into Pamela Ling's disappearance a police matter, says MACC

PUTRAJAYA: The investigation into the disappearance of Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh is solely a police matter, says the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

"It (the abduction) occurred outside the MACC and we are leaving it to the police to investigate. Whatever they want, we have provided," said Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki at a press conference at the MACC headquarters here on Thursday (May 22).

"To make it clear, Ling was arrested over her failure to present herself to the MACC – that is an offence. It is separate from our investigation," he said.

He added that he would leave it to the courts to decide if the MACC had overstepped their boundaries.

On April 9, Pamela was summoned to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya over an investigation under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act.

However, she was abducted while on her way to the appointment and her lawyer filed a police report on her disappearance the same day.
