Husband of Pamela Ling Yueh detained

KUALA LUMPUR: The husband of Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh was detained early on Thursday (May 15) morning.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the "Datuk Seri" suspect was arrested in the city.

"He was brought to the Putrajaya Court for a remand application. However, the application was rejected," he said when contacted on Thursday.

The suspect was detained to assist in an ongoing investigation, he added.

"We are still investigating the matter further," he said.

On April 9, Pamela was summoned to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to assist with an investigation under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act.

However, she went missing while on her way to the appointment. Her lawyer filed a police report regarding her disappearance on the same day.

So far, no ransom demand has been made in connection with her disappearance.

The police have recorded the statements of 27 individuals and are in the process of recording the statements of Pamela's three children in Singapore, with the assistance of Interpol.
