Motorcyclist dies in collision with SUV in Iskandar Puteri


ISKANDAR PUTERI: A motorcyclist died on the spot after being run over by an SUV at KM5, Jalan Kampung Ulu Pulai on Friday (May 9).

Iskandar Puteri police chief Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the 21-year-old local man was riding towards Gelang Patah when the incident occurred at 9.45am.

"Initial investigation found that the victim lost control while riding the bike and fell in the middle of the road," he said in a statement.

ACP Kumarasan said the motorcycle skidded into the opposite direction before the victim was hit by the SUV.

"The victim suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene while the SUV’s driver escaped unhurt," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

In a separate case, a driver of a Perodua Axia has come forward after a video of the car being driven in the opposite direction for 500m went viral.

ACP Kumarasan said the 26-year-old driver told the police that he had mistakenly entered a lane to reach the nearest petrol station.

The incident took place at KM4, Jalan Gelang Patah-Ulu Choh towards Kampung Ulu Pulai.

ACP Kumarasan said the driver had hit aanother car before his vehicle was sandwiched between two lorries.

"We are calling the two lorry drivers to come forward and assist us with the investigation," he said, adding the case is also being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Previously, a 21-second video of the incident was uploaded on Facebook.
