Gym instructor arrested for threatening female customer in Taman Melawati

KUALA LUMPUR: A gym instructor found himself in trouble for threatening a female customer after failing to make small talk.

In a statement on Friday (May 9), Ampang Jaya OCPD Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said the incident happened on April 22.

The victim was a 31-year-old member of the gym located in Taman Melawati.

"During their conversation, the suspect attempted to engage the victim in small talk but then scolded her, telling her to stop being arrogant or risk having acid thrown at her before he left," stated ACP Mohd Azam.

The victim felt deeply shaken by the incident and subsequently filed a police report.

The 42-year-old gym instructor was arrested on May 6 at the Ampang Jaya police headquarters. Investigations revealed that he tested positive for drugs, including methamphetamine, and he has no prior police records.

He pleaded guilty and has since been released on bail.
