Four injured in factory boiler explosion

SHAH ALAM: Four workers suffered burns when a steam boiler machine at a palm oil factory in Bestari Jaya, Kuala Selangor, exploded.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said upon receiving a distress call at 8.55am yesterday, they dispatched personnel from the Bestari Jaya fire station to the scene.

“Four men were injured in the incident – one local, one Bangladeshi and two Nepalese – aged between 27 and 38.

“The fire caused by the explosion was put out before our personnel arrived,” he said in a statement, Bernama reported.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the factory workers had been heating water in the machine when the explosion occurred.

All the victims were taken to the Tanjong Karang Hospital, with one of them being treated in the red zone.
