SEVERAL flash floods were reported across Klang Valley after a two-hour thunderstorm lashed the area on Wednesday (Oct 28).
In Jalan Taman Tasik Prima, Puchong Utama, a car was stranded as rising waters engulfed the road.
A video circulating on social media showed a man pushing the car forward amid ankle-deep floodwaters.
In Cyberjaya, netizens reported flash floods occurring near Cyber 10 in Persiaran Sepang, heading towards the Mulia Residences.
Clips shared on social media showed vehicles moving slowly through muddy waters.
Flash floods also inundated the area around Jalan Keluli 1C near i-City in Section 7, Shah Alam, for the second day in a row following heavy rain between noon and 1pm.
The incident follows flooding along the Federal Highway near i-City on Tuesday (Oct 27) afternoon, which caused severe traffic congestion for motorists travelling from Bukit Raja in Klang.
Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) said high water levels in Sungai Rasah, particularly near the Tugu Keris area, compounded the flooding and caused the river to overflow.
In a statement, the council said the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) and the Public Works Department (JKR) will take follow-up action.
MBSA plans to upgrade the drainage system by constructing scupper drains, installing flap gates at drain inlets and outlets, and stepping up routine maintenance.
The council added that it will continue working alongside technical agencies and i-City management to identify long-term solutions and mitigate future flood risks.
