Rafizi's leave sparks resignation rumour

PETALING JAYA: All eyes are on Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli after he is reported to be on leave amidst speculation that he has resigned.

The speculation has come about following news that many of those aligned to Rafizi, who did not turn up for the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (April 30), had lost in the recent PKR party elections.

The PKR deputy president had tweeted a cryptic message on X two days ago, tagging Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

"Unlike @niknazmi, I am the type who only appears when I am happy," he said.

Nik Nazmi had lost the Setiawangsa PKR division chief post to director-actor Datuk Afdlin Shauki.

Last week, Rafizi hosted a Hari Raya in his constituency in Pandan.

Earlier, a portal had quoted a minister as saying that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had informed the Cabinet on Wednesday that Rafizi had taken several days off.

The minister, who declined to be named, also said there was no resignation and that the speculation was false.

Attempts are being made to contact Rafizi.
