MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for 10 states


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected in several parts of Malaysia, with warnings in effect until 6pm on Wednesday (April 30), said the Malaysian Meteorological Department in a post on its Facebook page.

In Perak, the affected districts include Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang, and Muallim.

Kelantan's Kuala Krai is on alert for severe weather.

In Terengganu, Dungun is expected to face adverse conditions.

Pahang regions such as Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Temerloh, Bera, Pekan, and Rompin are included in the warning.

In Selangor, areas like Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Kuala Langat, and Sepang are forecasted to experience severe weather.

Negeri Sembilan districts including Seremban, Port Dickson, Rembau, Jempol, and Tampin are on alert.

The warning extends to Melaka.

In Johor, Segamat, Batu Pahat, and Kluang are expected to be affected.

In Sarawak, regions including Kuching (Lundu and Kuching), Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya), Mukah (Dalat and Mukah), Bintulu, Miri (Subis), and Limbang are under the warning.

In Sabah, the Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Nabawan, Keningau, and Tambunan), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, and Kota Kinabalu), and Tawau (Tawau) are expected to experience adverse weather conditions.

This warning is issued when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to last more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
