Thunderstorm warning issued for Sarawak, Sabah, and Labuan


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected in parts of Sarawak, Sabah, and Labuan, with warnings in effect until 2pm on Sunday (April 27), said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a post on its Facebook page.

In Sarawak, areas such as Miri (Beluru and Marudi) and Limbang are on alert.

In Sabah, the Interior regions including Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, and Beaufort, as well as Kudat, are forecasted to experience severe weather.

Labuan is also included in the thunderstorm warning.

MetMalaysia issues this warning when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to last more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
