Thunderstorm warning issued for six states, two Federal Territories until 4 PM


PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a severe weather warning predicting thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds across several states and federal territories until 4.00pm on Sunday (Oct 4).

The advisory, issued at 1.00pm, covers Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Other affected regions include Perak (Kuala Kangsar, Larut, Matang dan Selama, Manjung, Bagan Datuk, Perak Tengah and Hilir Perak), Kelantan (Pasir Puteh and Bachok), and Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu).

Also affected are Sarawak (Limbang (Limbang), Miri (Marudi), Sri Aman (Sri Aman and Lubok Antu), Betong (Betong), Bintulu (Tatau), Sibu (Selangau), and Kapit (Song)) and Sabah ((Interior (Pensiangan, Sipitang, Tenom and Tambunan), Tawau (Kalabakan and Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Kinabatangan) and the West Coast)).

According to MetMalaysia, thunderstorm warnings are short-term advisories issued when rainfall intensity is expected to exceed 20 mm per hour for over an hour, remaining valid for a maximum of six hours per release.
