Storm warning: Thunderstorms, heavy rain expected over 11 states, one FT until 6pm Saturday


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a weather warning, with thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast in 11 states and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur until 6pm Saturday (April 26).

In a statement Saturday, MetMalaysia said the areas affected include Perlis, Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, and Batang Padang), Kelantan (Machang and Pasir Puteh), Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu and Dungun), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Jerantut and Bentong), Selangor (Kuala Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat), and Johor (Kota Tinggi).

In Sarawak, the areas are Sri Aman (Lubok Antu), Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah (Daro) and Limbang while in Sabah, the areas affected are Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Nabawan, Keningau and Tambunan), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran), Tawau (Tawau) and Sandakan (Telupid and Beluran.
