KOTA KINABALU: A pro-GRS grouping has lodged five police reports against Warisan, accusing its machinery of spreading “malicious and defamatory” claims about Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and the ruling GRS-PH state government.

Gerakan Kuasa Rakyat Malaysia (G57) filed the reports at the Karamunsing police station here at 1pm Friday (April 18), alleging that several viral materials were deliberately fabricated to mislead the public and tarnish Hajiji’s image.

In a one-minute voice recording circulated online, a man with a voice resembling Hajiji's is heard claiming that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had instructed the MACC not to act against assemblymen linked to the Sabah mining scandal.

The voice also suggested that this was part of a political understanding to ensure continued cooperation with GRS ahead of the coming state election.

Other reports involved allegations that Hajiji had purchased an RM8mil condominium, awarded timber licences to cronies, including former chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, and approved the procurement of eight four-wheel drive vehicles at prices above market value, including registration numbers worth nearly RM4mil.

G57 chairman Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar said the group has collected nearly 35 items of alleged defamatory content targeting Hajiji and the state government since February.

He said G57 would continue lodging reports until all individuals spreading false claims are brought to court.

“We are also considering offering free legal aid to the state government to initiate civil suits against the perpetrators, particularly Warisan members and campaigners,” he said in a statement.

Zulkarnain expressed regret over what he described as Warisan’s “desperate campaign tactics” and said he believed the public would reject the party in PRN17.

He added that the attacks were aimed at undermining Hajiji’s leadership, citing Sabah’s rising GDP under his administration, reduced unemployment, and RM30bil worth of investments secured between 2020 and 2024.
