UAE leaders extend condolences to Malaysia on Pak Lah's passing


ABU DHABI: United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a condolence message to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on the passing of former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as well as Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Court chairman Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also conveyed their condolences in separate messages to the King.

Abdullah, 85, passed away at 7.10pm on Monday (April 14) at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur.

He was laid to rest with full state funeral honours at the Warriors’ Mausoleum near Masjid Negara at 2.30pm on Tuesday (April 15).

He was prime minister from Oct 31, 2003, to April 3, 2009. – Bernama-WAM
