Clarify your stance on Raub MP, PAS veep tells Umno

BIDOR: Datuk Idris Ahmad calls on Umno to take a clear stand on the actions of DAP's Raub MP Chow Yu Hui.

The PAS vice-president also urged that strong action be taken, including removing DAP from both the Pahang and Perak state governments, over what it described as disrespectful actions by DAP and its Raub representative.

"Perikatan Nasional takes seriously the issue of enforcement against illegal Musang King durian farms in Raub, Pahang, which has drawn strong public reactions.

"The Sultan of Pahang had previously urged the state government to take firm action against such illegal activities during the opening of the state assembly, expressing his displeasure towards those who unlawfully occupy government land," Idris said in a press conference on Tuesday (April 15).

"Recently, the Pahang state enforcement unit in collaboration with the police had carried out an operation to cut down about 200 Musang King durian trees illegally planted in Sungai Klau, Raub.

He said Chow also made unreasonable statements when comparing the enforcement action against illegal farms to Malaysia's humanitarian support for the Palestinian people.

Idris described the comparison as insensitive and an insult to the nation’s solidarity with global humanitarian issues.

“PAS takes this matter very seriously as it appears to challenge the Sultan’s decree and undermine the rule of law in our country,” he claimed, adding that DAP had yet to issue an official statement condemning their MP’s actions.

“What is Umno’s position towards DAP in the Pahang state government? Why hasn’t Umno issued any stern statement against DAP, despite the legal and royal implications of this issue?” he asked.

He said in Pahang, Barisan Nasional holds only 17 seats and needs DAP’s six seats and PKR’s two seats to form the government.

He also raised concerns over a similar situation in Perak, where the ruling coalition is dominated by DAP.

"Although the Perak Mentri Besar is from Umno, the state government relies on 24 Pakatan seats where 18 seats belong to DAP.

“Will DAP in Perak eventually cause the same trouble as what we’ve seen in Pahang?” he asked.

The party urged Umno, as a coalition partner with DAP in both state governments, to clarify its stance and take strong action by removing DAP from the state administrations over the Raub MP’s actions.
